For those of you who haven't seen this yet it is a cool video compilation of TV on the Radio's new album. RIP to bassist Gerard Smith who died nine days after the release of this album. (10:31 inside joke)

Pantha Du Prince and the Bell Laboratory
Last months Øyafestival in Oslo saw the premiere of Pantha Du Prince's Bell Laboratory, which features five bell players and Prince (aka Hendrik Weber) on electronics - thus taking the German Techno Titan's bell fetish to its logical conclusion. No complete audio from the performance has surfaced yet, but photographer Sigurd Fandango has documented the rehearsals and premiere performance in a set of stunning Black and white photos. For more on the story and updates about the Bell Laboratory, check out the feature on RA or head over to Prince's Official Website.
In the meantime, here's a short clip of the performance shot by a fellow fan (Front Row!? so Jealous!)

Thundercat "Shenanigans pt. 1" mix by Flying Lotus
If you loved Flylo's Cosmogramma and you were lucky enough to witness the wonders of his live band on tour in 2010, then chances are you're familiar with the monstrous bass sound of Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner. He has a truly impressive, and all-over-the-place track record. As a former member of Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Groove, he has since contributed to a number of LA based soul and hip hop acts like Eryka Badu, Sa-Ra Creative Partners, and Flylo to name a few. Now he is about to drop his first full length Solo LP, "The Golden Age of Apocalypse," to be released August 30th on Brainfeeder. As a sweet little promo for the upcoming alubm, Flying Lotus has put together a killer mix of Thundercat's work, including newer songs from the upcoming album and past work. Check out the mix, titled "Shenanigans pt. 1" on the Brainfeeder site and while you're at it, check out the trailer for the delightfully retarded French film, "Rubber", with soundtrack by fellow Brainfeeder, Mr. Oizo.

Recommended Listening
Working at a record shop, you hear a lot of people recommend this, that or the other thing. After a while, it seems just too damn hard to keep up with what other people think you should be listening to. But then you'll hear something that reminds you why you should pay attention to what the cool kids are telling you. The mixes found on this soundcloud account are examples of just that- great recommendations I blew off for far too long.

I've never been able to figure out based on descriptions alone whether or not i would like something before hearing or seeing it. so what I'm trying to figure out is what it is that ties together my favorite shit from all corners of the world. this volume comes closer to an answer using deductive reasoning, and concludes that it isn't cops.
